**About the role**:
The St Vincent’s Hospital Vascular Surgery Department is seeking applicants with appropriate skills and qualifications for appointment as a Visiting Medical Officer to the end of the quinquennium in June 2027.
- Provision of clinical services to patients designated as under your direct care, to outpatients and to patients you are asked to consult in Vascular Surgery;
- Provision of a variable number of elective operating sessions per month depending on leave of other surgeons progressing to fixed sessions once further theatre sessions become available, primarily to public patients noting that the number of allocated sessions available may vary over time depending upon resources available, strategic priorities and clinical demand;
- Management of elective waiting lists to ensure the numbers of elective waiting list patients do not exceed the National and State waiting time benchmarks or exceed the capacity of the contractually agreed theatre time availability to undertake the wait list cases, in accordance with NSW Health Policy Participate in teaching and research duties;
- Promotion of good patient care and the good reputation of the department and the hospital;
- Participate in the Vascular Surgery on-call roster as required.

**Selection Criteria**:

- Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia;
- Possess Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) or equivalent, as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997, with full membership of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery;
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in Vascular Surgery commensurate to experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position, including experience in the management of trauma and general surgical emergencies, current participation in a renal transplant program as a transplant surgeon at a major teaching hospital, dialysis access experience, and training in endovascular intervention (such as that certified by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Peripheral endovascular Therapy; CCoPET);
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching at specialty registrar, junior medical officer and undergraduate levels;
- Demonstrated leadership skills that support and foster innovation to create a learning culture, with proven ability to improve the quality of services and patient care outcomes;
- Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience;
- Demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development, dissemination, and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment;
- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries.
