**About the Opportunity**:
The Engineering Group at the Australian Synchrotron currently has a vacancy for an inquisitive and motivated person to join our team. This role is for a Plant Technician who will be responsible for providing specialized skills and technical expertise relating to the fabrication, installation, commission and maintenance mechanical systems to support all aspects of the plant which is critical to the building and Synchrotron function.

**About You**:
This role will require a trade technical qualification, or equivalent practical experience in a specialised Mechanical Engineering field. We are looking for someone with:

- At least 5 years demonstrated practical experience
- Experience with high reliability plant
- Sound computers skills, including proficiency in MS Office products
- Knowledge of 3D CAD modelling (or similar) & ability for production

**Your Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Plan, maintain and commission plant mechanical systems to ensure new and existing mechanical systems are operating at required conditions
- Plan and supervise maintenance works in accordance to operations schedule and site requirements
- Design and fabrication of mechanical equipment ensuring integration and operation of plant, supporting accelerator and beamlines
- Facilitate and plan the effective running of relevant facility projects so that deliverables meet the correct requirements, installation and timing of installations during shutdowns
- Manage technical documentation, writing and developing SOP’s and JSA/SWMS’s to ensure compliance with facility standards and to obtain permits to work
