Work hard and make history with Amazon’s International Public Policy and Government Affairs Team. The Manager, Operations Public Policy, Australia will join a dynamic team that works across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India and the Asia Pacific in support of Amazon’s operations. Like our business interests, our policy issues are broad, forward-thinking, and driven by what is best for our customers.

As the Manager, Operations Public Policy, Australia you will have an astute understanding of the public policy and regulatory environment in which we operate as well as key stakeholders within it. You will create and execute strategies for engaging with key stakeholders, including state and local governments, business chambers, and community groups in areas where we have existing facilities and plan future developments.

You will also oversee and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, key initiatives and consultancy support. You will be able to manage and drive complex projects, and provide clear and confident guidance, including in situations of high ambiguity. You will be a confident leader, but are also able to operate respectfully and collaboratively within wider regional and international structures.

This position will report to the Senior Manager of Public Policy for Australia, and work closely with other public policy team members. The Manager will be willing to travel regularly, based on business need.

The position is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract, based in Sydney.

- Demonstrated ability to be both a substantive issue expert on matters related to Amazon’s business and a manager of complex political relationships
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience creating and effectively delivering factual, relevant, and easily understandable talking points and other messaging
- Experience identifying and understanding key technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in state and/or local political environments, understanding business implications, and synthesising information for internal and external customers, and recommending a best course of action
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate, state government, and regulatory agency levels
- Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity
- Project Management experience
