**The Department**

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

The single most important goal of Alfred Mental & Addiction Health is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.

**The Artist in Residence (AiR) project**

The AiR project is part the Allied Health service’s ‘Fresh Expressions’ programme that seeks innovative, creative ways to engage and deliver its therapeutic Adult Mental Health services. This latest offering is made possible because of generous philanthropic support and a burgeoning creative enterprise model that is creating new forms of therapeutic and creative activities to the meet the needs of vulnerable people across Alfred Health Mental and Addiction Health services.

**The Role**

In this role, you will lead the delivery of three artist workshops with inpatients during the period of the residency, supported by staff (this maybe with the Art Therapist, nursing and/or allied health staff) as required. The content of the workshops may be negotiated by the artist and participants at the time of delivery. Workshops will be 1-1.5 hours duration and take place within the inpatient unit.

You will enable and encourage the engagement, art making and involvement of the creative output of the consumers in the IPU setting, as well as offer advocacy of mental health awareness through art making and art work.

**Qualifications/Experience Required**
- Lived experience of mental health challenges
- Project experience and working with groups
- Tertiary qualifications in creative art stream (desirable)
- Australian working rights
- Full Covid-19 and Influenza vaccination
- Be willing to undergo a Background Check
