An exciting opportunity exists for an
**Elective Surgery Liaison Officer - Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2** to join the
**Surgical Waitlist** team at
**Wollongong Hospital**. This is a Temporary Part Time secondment relief position, 24 hours per week until August 2024, with the possibility of extension at same/reduced hours.

**What you'll be doing**

The Clinical Nurse and Midwifery Specialist grade 2 (CNS2) is responsible for the management of clinical aspects of patients on the elective surgery waiting list in an efficient, transparent and patient focused manor in accordance with the NSW Waiting Time and Elective Surgery Policy.

The CNS2 will develop and implement management plans for patients on the elective surgery waiting list in consultation with Consultants, Registrars, Nurse Unit Manager, Surgical Booking Clerks and other stakeholders as required.

They will need to be able to escalate and anticipate waitlist issues to relevant medical teams and managers for resolution, and will need to participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of elective surgery strategies.

The CNS 2 will need to maintain timely and effective open communication with all relevant staff and ensure optimum patient care provision

The CNS2 will demonstrate the ability to act as a professional role model, delivering a high level capacity for client advocacy while demonstrating the ability to act as a change agent, provide effective clinical leadership and the ability to practice as an autonomous professional in a small team with the capacity to work within a larger multidisciplinary team environment.

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.
