About the program
Frontyard Youth Services is a specialist youth service providing a range of multidisciplinary programs to meet the holistic needs of young people aged between 12 and 25 years who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Frontyard aims to support young people to meet their physical, emotional, and social needs and to develop pathways out of homelessness. Many of the services at Frontyard work with young people across greater Melbourne and throughout Victoria.

Check-In (Frontyard’s mental health program) has been enhanced to respond to recommendations of the Royal Commission into Victorias Mental Health System. This role will be working closely with St Vincents Hospital, the Northwest Public Health Network, Orygen and area mental health services to address the gaps in service provision for young people that experience mental ill health and homelessness. This enhanced program aims to ensure no one falls through the gaps of mental health service provision.
The Program aims to:

- provide early and crisis intervention mental health services to young people aged 12-25 years presenting with complex mental health issues
- develop and maintain partnerships and working relationships with service providers to facilitate referrals with more appropriate services.
- contribute to evidence informed approaches to supporting young people with, or at risk of, severe mental illness

**About the role**
This role will be the lead driver of the development, implementation, coordination, ongoing evaluation, and adjustments to the program to create best practice support and intervention for young people experiencing homelessness and mental ill health. The role will drive service innovation and best practice in ensuring no young people, regardless of complexity, falls through the gap of mental health service provision.
The role is additionally responsible for direct line management and supporting 2 MCM Mental Health Peer Workers and coordinating 4 allied health staff working on site at Frontyard from St Vincents Hospital.

**Skills and experience**
- Provide quality review on the development of service responses and interventions to meet the needs of young people with multiple and complex needs.
- Lead evaluation and reporting on pilot to ensure ongoing learnings are improving and modifying processes to ensure best outcomes for young people.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with a wide range of services essential to providing whole of person care to young people in crisis.
- Provide sound clinical advice to support the development and revision of guidelines, policies, procedures that are used across MCM and support MCM in its pursuit to ensure all young people have appropriate and timely mental health support.
- Provide supervision to all Check-In staff that align with MCM supervision framework and Healing Oriented Framework and guidance.
- Provide oversight and support and guidance to St Vincents staff based at Frontyard.
- Ensure service specific guidelines and funding agreements are adhered to and compliance is achieved.
- Maintain regular reporting, accurate files, case notes and databases using relevant platforms and systems.

Essential:

- Minimum Bachelor qualification in human services or an allied health discipline, including social work, occupational therapy, psychology, with membership with the appropriate professional body.
- Significant experience in project development, innovative and flexible service responses and managing and supporting staff within new programs
- Strong networking and collaborative working skills
- A comprehensive understanding of practice approaches when working with young people who are ex
