**The School of Allied Health Science and Practice is seeking actors to join our team on a casual basis in the role of Simulated Patients (SP).**

**Casual rate **between** $42.98 to $43.34 per hour, plus an employer contribution of 10.5% superannuation will apply.**

As part of the clinical education of physiotherapy students at The University of Adelaide, students work with actors who portray simulated patients in clinical scenarios. This simulated-based education experience will run between Tuesday 13th June and Thursday 13th July (note Monday 12th June is a public holiday). Each day, each Simulated Patient will portray 2-3 different patient scenarios, with role-specific training provided immediately prior to the interaction with students. For each patient scenario, SPs will be provided with a patient profile and relevant medical details, but the role will not be scripted. SPs will be required to adlib, within the details that have been given. Physiotherapy students will complete physical assessments with SPs which may include walking assessments, listening to your chest, testing your muscle strength, observing how you get in and out of bed, or testing your balance. In the physiotherapy profession, it is routine for patients to be asked to disrobe to their underwear to facilitate such physical assessments and as such, this will be requested of our simulated patients.

Inpatient simulation-based education is delivered in our brand new 12-bed simulated hospital space, and outpatient experiences will take place within our clinical teaching spaces. Both facilities are located on the North Terrace campus, adjacent to Frome Road. The campus is easily accessible by public transport, and all-day parking is available nearby (Wilson on Frome Road) for approximately $11.

SP roles vary from 2 days to 12 days across the 5-week period. Days are a minimum length of 6 hours.

Applicants should have acting experience but professional training is not a requirement.
