**The Opportunity**

We're currently expanding our associate roster in Australia and seeking expressions of interest to join our Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) practice. GEDSI Associates would provide on-demand research and analytical support as required by the needs of the business. We are open to a variety of skill and experience levels, from early to mid-career level. While a Canberra base is preferred, we are open to considering remote and flexible work options.

At Abt our GEDSI Technical Advisers sit within the company's International Technical Practice (ITP). The ITP combines deep technical expertise in gender and social inclusion, governance, climate change, health, education, and monitoring, evaluation and learning in interdisciplinary ways to tackle complex development problems.

Our GEDSI Technical Advisers provide a range of advisory services to Abt-managed programs across the region, as well as directly advising clients such as DFAT. These services include:

- Developing or facilitating development of strategies on gender equality, disability equity, intersectionality and localisation, and supporting their implementation and review.
- Developing and delivering equity-focused training for program teams.
- Coaching and mentoring program staff across the region, including on development of activity designs and implementation plans.
- Facilitating global and regional communities of practice bringing together program staff to share insights, good practices, and lessons.
- Contributing technical input to proposals for new work.
- Development and publication of articles contributing to literature and practitioner debates.
- Contribution to company policies and procedures on equity, diversity and inclusion, and social safeguards.

GEDSI Associates work under the guidance of Abt's GEDSI Technical Advisers to provide support such as undertaking literature reviews and horizon scans, drafting reports, articles, and presentations.

**General Responsibilities**:
GEDSI associates are generally responsible for:

- Providing on demand technical advice on GEDSI issues to program teams and other stakeholders.
- Conducting detailed reviews of literature, qualitative and quantitative research on GEDSI issues. Maintaining, a broad view of best practice, to ensure advice reflects lessons from regional and global experience.
- Drafting tools, presentations, articles, and other means to disseminate technical insights on GEDSI to internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing inputs for proposal writing, training materials and reporting
- Assisting with other advisory activities and requests as required.

**What We Value**:

- Undergraduate degree in gender studies, international development, or a related social science field '“ or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in social science research and analysis.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Personal and professional commitment to equity and inclusion
- Ability to work constructively as a member of a small and diverse team.
- Knowledge or work experience in international development is strongly preferred.
- Networks across, or experience working in, the Australian international development sector and the Indo-Pacific region would be a significant advantage.
