**About the Unit/Service Line**

Operational Support Services (OSS) supports the delivery of non-clinical services within the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) under the departments of: Facilities and Security Operations, OSS Business Operations and Environmental Services. These departments focus on efficient operations, through best practice, whilst satisfying legal and safety requirements as well as meeting productivity and efficiency standards across the businesses and facilities of the GCHHS.
Dock and Imprest Management services are to ensure that the processes around Health and Safety, product security, building access, dock traffic control, physical goods receivable, distribution, medical gas monitoring and other services are carried out in accordance with all relative Queensland Health policies and procedures.
Goods delivered to both GCUH and Robina Hospital are received by the Dockhands and are passed on to the Good Receipting Officers. Once the goods are receipted, they are delivered by the Dockhands (non-clinical items) and/or Imprest Officers (clinical items)

**About the Role**

As a trainee, you will be required to learn the tasks of the role in a paced and supportive environment. Working under supervision, you will gain skills and experience aligned to the relevant Traineeship Certificate and traineeship guidelines. Once competency of a task is achieved, the trainee may be assessed to work independently.
The role of a dockhand is to undertake a range of tasks associated with the receiving and supply of consumables within the Gold Coast University Hospital whilst always maintaining the integrity of the loading dock area.

**Key Duties and Accountabilities**
- Fulfill the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Public Service, the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) values.
- Comply with the Code of Conduct for the Queensland Public Service and all policies and procedures.
- Comply with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and the Gold Coast Health Clinical Governance Framework in all areas of your practice.
- Operate and assist with the maintenance of material handling equipment as required e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks.
- Accept delivery of goods to the dock area and move goods to appropriate storage in the dock area.
- Validation of goods received against delivery documentation.
- Escalate complaints and issues relating to the warehousing and distribution function to the Dock Manager.
- Provide distribution services of goods to final locations where required within the facility.
- Monitor and attend tasks relative to medical gas requirements to ensure continual supply.
- Provide removal logistics support to the GCHHS as requested by the Dock Manager.
- Maintain the Loading Dock area in good order ensuring cleanliness and a safe working environment.
- Ensure security of the dock area at all times.
- Provide support and services to a team delivering a client focused supply service.
- Liaise and communicate effectively with supply personnel and clients in relation to supply matters.
- Follow policies, procedures and instructions relating to work health and safety that are relevant to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality and safe services in the workplace.
- Take reasonable care for your own health, safety and wellbeing and take reasonable care to ensure that your acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health, safety and wellbeing of others.
- Maintain accountability for information security, management and appropriate use, in accordance with legislation, standards, policies and procedures.
- Comply with reasonable instructions that are provided for the safety of you and others at the workplace.
