THE ROLE

The Student Engagement Advisor will be an essential role in providing senior support to the Manager First Year Experience and Peer Programs for all student related activities. This includes the administration and support of student groups, peer programs and other major student events.

Key Responsibilities

Macquarie University aims to provide numerous opportunities for students to participate in different orientation initiatives that heightens their on-campus experience. The Student Engagement Advisor will lead and support events and administrative coordination aimed at promoting First Year Experience and Peer Programs such as peer mentors, buddies (social program) and student group support. You will also design and deliver programs that engage first year orientation students and their ongoing support throughout their initial phase of student lifecycle.

Further responsibilities for this role include:
- Manage dispatch of communications, electronic communications and documents to students as related to the delivery of first year experience and peer program initiatives.- Facilitate and coordinate events for student group events and other major student events including registration of students attending events, rosters and training, speaker briefings and facilities bookings.- Identify, mitigate against and/or escalate risks associated with student engagement events.- Respond to queries from students, external stakeholders and MQ staff.- Manage website content relating to first year experience, peer programs, student groups and other major events.- Mentor and coach students and student groups on university protocols and values- Audit and evaluate all student clubs and their activities implementing regulatory frameworks.- Build and manage relationship with external contractors and suppliers.- Review first year experience and peer program processes and procedures for improvement opportunities.- Coordinate the Schedule of Work to ensure key dates are met.- Collaborate with IT Business Services to update first year experience and peer programs modules for students and staff.- Manage and analyse the feedback collection and evaluation of major events and campaigns and contribute to continuous improvement of student experience.

Selection Criteria- Degree or equivalent experience in business or related discipline.- Knowledge of the Australian higher education system.- Knowledge of student/customer engagement projects and programs.- Knowledge of the University's policies and processes relating to first year experience and peer programs.- Expert knowledge of process continual improvement and transformation.- Extensive experience in leading and successfully implementing major student events and engagement initiatives.- Experience managing, analysing and reporting on data and complex business processes.- Ability to build and manage partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
