About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Subcontracts Specialist to join our Hunter Class Frigates Program based at Sydney, NSW, reporting to the Senior Subcontracts Manager
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
Working across all aspects of contract management and administration of major subcontracts, continuous improvement of systems, tools and processes which enable an efficient and effective platform subcontract function whilst implementing internal controls to ensure the compliance of legislation and governance requirements.
In addition, you will get an opportunity to manage high value, high risk complex contracts for our platform area supporting our largest shipbuilding program

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Support the commercial management of subcontracts through effective commercial and correspondence administration including milestones, claims, notices/letters, invoices and flow down of contract amendments
- Undertake contract management activities for major subcontracts including but not limited to the preparation of scope notice, contract change proposal, variation, certificate of conformance or milestone achievement documentation
- Proactively manage the performance of suppliers to meet the contractual requirement from a schedule, cost and quality perspective
- Facilitate and maintain effective working relationship with subcontractors and lead or support commercial subcontract meetings to ensure the maintenance of the interface with the subcontractor
- Support to generate and manage lifecycle management of procurement subcontract management plans and ensure that emerging risks are identified, costed and monitored
- Implement and follow the procurement policies and processes ensuring the compliance of relevant acts, legal demands and ethical standards

About YOU
- Relevant demonstrated experience in contract administration, procurement or commercial management preferably in defence or engineering organisations
- Good commercial acumen and analytical skill with an experience or understanding of project management
- An ability to show initiative, prioritise and meet deadlines coupled with an ability to progress issues and resolve actions within a project team environment
- Strong communicator with an ability to foster lasting relationships with suppliers, project team and the supplier's key subcontractors
- Proficient user of ERP system such as Oracle, SAP or similar, Ms office package including word, excel and power point
- Whilst not essential, degree qualification in procurement/supply chain or engineering discipline with professional procurement qualification or a membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) is desirable
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
