**Why Your Role Matters**:
This Post Doctoral Research Fellow position within the School of Social Sciences links to a dynamic and energetic research program. The research program undertakes qualitative and quantitative research focusing on contemporary experiences of care and caring, working with leading academic and industry-based researchers to improve understandings of care transitions.
As the Research Fellow you will primarily work with academic and partner investigators on a project funded by an Australian Research Council Linkage Project Grant _“When caring ends”_, that explores the experiences of informal carers, and the conditions in which transitions out of caring occurs. The Linkage project aims to generate new knowledge to address the unmet needs of former carers, as well as benefit current carers and their care recipients by bringing practice and policy attention to the circumstances that sustain caring relationships and wellbeing over time.
The position reports to the Chief Investigator/Project Lead and has no direct reports.
**Accountabilities**
Specific accountabilities for this role include (but are not limited to):
- Support and coordinate the overall administration and delivery of the project tasks
- Contribute independently and as a team member to undertake activities to deliver the project and related research, ensuring accurate and timely action to ensure project milestones are met. Accountabilities are including but not limited to:
- Oversee and coordinate data management to standards required for ethical conduct of study
- Support data management and tasks related to the day-to-day running of the project
- Conduct and lead literature reviews
- Coordinate and liaise with partner organisations in the recruitment of participants
- Conduct data collection, as it relates to the research project including in-depth interviews, timeline mapping, focus groups, workshops using cultural probes techniques
- Support and contribute to the analysis of large amounts of qualitative data (and quantitative data as appropriately trained)
- Support the dissemination of research outcomes through appropriate channels, by contributing to academic and non-academic publications, presenting to end users at conferences, meetings and workshops are relevant to the project.
- Maintain high levels of organisation and planning to deliver research outputs and engagement activities.
**About you**
Skills and Experience required for this position are (but not limited to):
- A PhD (or near completion PhD) in the social sciences (preferably sociology, anthropology, social work) or a discipline closely related.
- Experience working on complex and/or sensitive research projects and delivering outputs in a timely manner.
- Experience working with qualitative research methods and approaches to data collection and fieldwork. (including interview schedules, participant recruitment, informed consent, in-depth interviews, data management).
- Experience analysing interview data using appropriate methods, such as thematic analysis or other techniques.
- Relevant knowledge and expertise in contemporary sociological approaches and social theory, particularly in relation to qualitative analysis.
