The Sport and Activities program at Canterbury College is extensive, fostering opportunities for students in Prep through to Year 12. Canterbury competes in The Associated Schools (TAS) competition, with students from Years 3 - 12 involved in Saturday sport across all terms of the year.
The College is currently seeking Cricket Coaches to contribute to the school’s exceptional Sport Program. Due to the size of the program, we currently have several opportunities available for coaches with varying levels of experience and qualifications. As a Cricket Coach you will work with our Coordinator of Cricket and be responsible for delivering coaching sessions that provide a safe environment for athletes and assist them to develop skills, tactical awareness, teamwork and enjoyment of the sport.
Year 7 - 12 TAS Cricket Teams will commence preseason training in Term 4, 2024 which will continue into Term 1 of 2025. Year 3 - 6 JTAS Training will start in Term 1, 2025. All teams will train twice a week (mostly afternoons) with TAS and JTAS competition games taking place on Saturdays in Term 1 at various locations.
**Responsibilities Include**:
- Providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students at all times.
- Assisting the Cricket Coordinator where appropriate, with the development of new and existing programs.
- Maintaining accurate rolls, monitoring and reporting on student absenteeism from training and games.
- Ensuring adequate warm up is performed prior to the students taking to the field.
- Advertising and conducting selection trials.
- Establishing and attending training days - twice per week, ideally Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
- Setting up and packing down of equipment where required.
- Attending game days.
- Ensuring full teams are played each week.
**Qualifications and experience**
- Demonstrated experience coaching girls from beginner to elite level
- Coaching and/or refereeing accreditation (desirable)
- Ability to acquire and maintain a Positive Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
**Pay rates vary according to experience, qualifications and coaching responsibilities.**
