**About the role**

**_This is a permanent full-time opportunity (working 38 hours/week) based in the ACT with regular travel to Eden NSW. Flexible working hours and vehicle provided._**

Uniting is seeking to call a Chaplain to lead a Pastoral team across **Uniting Mirinjani** **in Weston in the ACT **and** Eden on the NSW far south coast.**
This position will also be responsible for working alongside the Canberra and Southern Tablelands Hub Chaplain in visiting Uniting Church patients and Uniting residents at The Canberra Hospital and University of Canberra Hospital.

Reporting to the Chaplaincy Convenor, the call is to someone who:

- is able to provide Chaplaincy support and pastoral care as well as lead a team of pastoral care staff.
- can balance prophetic voice with pragmatic hierarchal structure.
- is comfortable working across all types of diversity including LGBTI+, cultural, theological, ecumenical and interfaith.
- Be an active member of the Uniting Church’s Canberra Region Presbytery.

**Essential Criteria**:
**Qualifications**:

- A Diploma or Degree in Theology or Ministry or Community Development.
- Evidence of Chaplaincy training of at least 2 or more units of completed Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent

**Experience**:

- This is a Leadership role, which requires demonstrated experience in ministry, chaplaincy or community development. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be organised, systematic, thorough, accurate and disciplined.
- Demonstrates the ability to identify, document and report changing care needs, preferences, and lifestyle choices of the person in our care.
- Demonstrated experience working or volunteering in spiritual pastoral care with older people in the hospital environment (desirable)
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the Uniting Church and its polity, its structure, systems and processes.
- Understanding of spiritual pastoral care issues relating to people in our care
- Demonstrated theological leadership and an ability to ensure the understanding of people across the organisation in the Mission of the church and promoting Uniting’s theological principles in practice.
