**Pay range**:$85.00 - $105.00 p/h inc super

**About the role**:
The departments’ global diplomatic network enables them to pursue Australia’s interests and to help Australian citizens and businesses overseas.

The department operates in an unpredictable and challenging security environment, and their network of diplomatic posts is exposed to a range of security threats—from terrorism, politically motivated violence, crime and civil disorder to espionage.

**Duties**
- preparing high quality documentation related to the development and ongoing operation of a specific hardware solution and the accompanying analytical capability
- liaising with the capability manager and systems engineer to determine the most appropriate documentation requirements
- setting documentation standards and operate a quality assurance function
- Ensuring version control and document history is observed and records are managed in accordance with departmental procedures
- testing documentation with user groups and review and adjust accordingly

**Required experience/skills**
- Editorial and technical writing qualifications would be advantageous
- Previous experience as a Technical Writer producing technical documentation and user guides (essential)
- Prior government experience is regarded
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
