The Nutritionist is responsible for inpatient clinical nutrition. Conducts nutrition assessment, identifies nutrition problems, and coordinates care plans among other care providers. Nutritionists counsel clients on nutrition issues and healthy eating habits. Nutritionists are experts in the use of food and nutrition to promote health and manage the disease. They plan and conduct food service or nutritional programs to help people lead healthy lives.
- Sometimes nutritionists and dieticians are used synonymously; they often have licensed or are registered under different jurisdictions. In the near future, we need to conduct smaller clinical trials to develop AI models for personalised food recommendations, and for that, we need someone with expertise in nutrigenomics. Microbiome-food axis is an exciting field that will dominate the future market.**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Researching how the body's functions are affected by nutrient supply.
- Investigating the relationship between genes and nutrients.
- Studying how diet affects metabolism.
- Examining the process of nourishment and the association between diet, disease, and health.
- Providing health advice and promoting healthy eating.
- Advising about special diets.
- Educating health professionals and the public about nutrition.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team/supporting the work of other health care professionals.
- Helping establish short and long-term goals.
- Ensuring that you stay updated on the latest nutritional diets and trends.

**PERSON QUALIFICATIONS**
- Master's or PhD in foods, nutrition, or related fields.
- Have peer-reviewed publications.
- A minimum of 2 years experience as a professional nutritionist.
- In-depth knowledge of biochemistry, research methods, and human physiology.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- A critical thinker with outstanding interpersonal skills.

**EXPECTED EXPERIENCES IN**
- Evaluating the nutritional status of individuals and helping towards consultation, advice, and nutrition planning.
- Working in the related fields of nutrigenomics or nutritional genomics.
- Working to understand the relationships between nutrition (e.g., nutrients, metabolites, food, diet) and ‘omics’ data (e.g., gene expression, gut microbiome, or human genome).
- Basic statistics, data exploration and bioinformatics analysis.
- Conducting and/or designing clinical trials to understand diet and diseases.
- Evaluating and/or developing educational materials for diverse audiences.
- Food and nutrition product creation, testing, review, and marketing within the industry.
