The University of Newcastle has been awarded funding from the NSW Government to establish a signature program aimed at developing technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship skills among our students. This program will leverage the extensive expertise, resources, and industry connections of the I2N to enrich the student experience.

As the Manager, Pre-Startup Programs, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and entrepreneurship. You will be responsible for designing and delivering pre-startup programs within the Integrated Innovation Network (I2N), a collaborative initiative that leverages our university's resources, industry networks, and expertise to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators. This role involves leading the development and implementation of the Pre-Accelerator for Entrepreneurs course in partnership with the Newcastle Business School. This will include:

- Designing and delivering the Pre-Accelerator for Entrepreneurs course, providing students with a hands-on approach to testing, improving, and advancing business ideas using lean startup methodology.
- Leading the development and execution of Immersives, co/extra-curricular deep-dive sessions conducted by industry experts, enhancing students' enterprise and technology competencies and sector familiarity.
- Providing ongoing support to program participants, offering coaching, and facilitating connections within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
- Fostering relationships with startup and industry partners, maximising growth opportunities for participants and the program.
- Contributing to the conversion of student and alumni participants into Startup programs.
- Collaborating with team members across various University campuses, including Callaghan, Ourimbah, and Gosford, to ensure program success.

This grant funded position is full time Fixed Term position to March 2027 at a HEW 8 Higher Education Level and will be based at Newcastle City Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land) with travel to Callaghan and Gosford on an as needs basis.

**About the Unit**

The office of the Pro Vice Chancellor, Industry and Engagement provides University-wide strategic support for industry partnerships, commercialisation, business engagement, and entrepreneurship initiatives in alignment with the Engagement Priorities of the University’s _Looking Ahead _Strategic Plan 2020-2025. The PVCIE has carriage of Knowledge Exchange & Enterprise (KEE), Integrated Innovation Network (I2N), Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources (NIER), and the Institute for Regional Futures

The I2N provides physical space and transformative enterprise skill training to enable University staff, students, alumni, and community members to create and implement solutions to societal and commercial problems. Its range of globally recognised entrepreneurship programs helps start-ups, spinouts build innovative solutions for businesses, organisations and the community while tapping into University resources. The I2N also provides training to support research teams to effectively build commercialisation expertise, manage relationships and attain real-world impact for industry and society.
