**About Us**:
The Integrity, Regulation and Legal Services (IRLS) group supports the Attorney-General, other DJCS Ministers and the department by providing legal, policy, integrity and assurance expertise. We work collaboratively with key entities across the justice system and the department to ensure our work is strategic, relevant, holistic and people centred.

The group has a broad range of responsibilities, including legal advice and services coordination, departmental integrity functions, legal policy and stakeholder management in the integrity, major crime, liquor and gaming spaces, and liquor licencing and regulation.

The Major Crime and Investigative Powers (MCIP) team, within IRLS, delivers strategic policy and legislative projects that require targeted research and consultation with justice sector partners. Ongoing projects led by the team include work in the major crime and criminal organisation, confiscation and investigative powers policy spaces as well as work related to the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants.

**About the Role**:
The Policy Officer is responsible for contributing to the co-ordination, research, development, implementation, review and reform of policy and legislation across the Attorney-General's portfolio.

Some of your duties will include:

- Contributing to the research, development and implementation of policy proposals, programs and initiatives within the Attorney-General's reform program.
- Providing considered and informed advice to management on key policy and legislation issues and system reform issues.
- Engaging, consulting and working collaboratively with our partners across the department and the broader justice system to deliver on policy, strategy and reform projects.

**About You**:

- Knowledge of and/or experience in Victorian Government administrative processes and policy development (or skills and experience that will allow you to quickly acquire this knowledge).
- Knowledge of and/or experience/interest in criminal law and procedure, investigation powers and/or human rights would be advantageous, while experience in other social or legal policy fields will also be viewed favourably.
- Written communication skills: Ability to write clearly and concisely across a range of document types such as correspondence, project plans, reports and policy papers. Explains complex issues and provides strong support for a preferred position or action.
- Qualifications:_
- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of and/or experience of social policy or associated field and/or knowledge of law.
