**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
Reporting to the Director Governance and Risk, the Solicitor works as part of the Governance and Risk Directorate, providing high quality legal advice across a range of legal areas, with a particular focus of the work will be to provide advice in GIPA, Property and Contracts matters.

The successful applicant will require:

- Admitted to practice law as a solicitor or barrister in New South Wales
- Hold a current practising certificate enabling practice as a Solicitor in NSW
- Proven ability to provide clear, specialist, expert and strategic legal advice on complex and sensitive matters
- Computer literacy, particularly in the MS Office suite of products
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team and contribute to team goals.

**Position information**: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued day Off (ADO). This role is predominantly located at Council's Merrylands office, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.

**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 16 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $126,295 to $145,239 per annum, plus 10.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
