Research, Australia The Wilderness Society Full time

**The Wilderness Society is working for a future that does not rely on continued destruction of nature and our climate, but rather flourishes because of our responsible stewardship of these core life support systems. We value organisational independence and integrity, and the power of people to make change.**

Be part of a team that’s proud to work for the organisation that’s secured some of the biggest wins for Australian wilderness and nature: stopping the damming of the Franklin River forty years ago, protecting Waldaman / James Price Point in the Kimberley from a ginormous gas hub, or defending special forests the length and breadth of this continent.

**About the role**:
This is a unique opportunity for a Social Researcher to be part of a results-driven team focused on securing better protections for wilderness and nature on land and sea across this continent, whether that’s reigning in fossil fuel expansion or inappropriate development in special places and regions, or tackling the national scourge of deforestation.

To thrive in this role you’ll be a deep thinker about key decision-makers and who are the influencers on those.

You’re curious about what’s inspiring communities. And keen to support development of campaign strategies by delivering research about what’s driving specific community, business and government attitudes and behaviours.

In doing this work, you’ll bring a commitment to establishing and strengthening dialogue with First Nations Peoples for all aspects of our campaigns.

While supporting the ongoing development and implementation of the Organisational Campaign Plan (OCP), you’ll have a key focus on ensuring colleagues across the country are well-informed when developing campaign strategies and tactics to influence government and corporate decisions, and to empower communities.

This is a two-year fixed term contract for an experienced Social Research Practitioner who can identify and use data to inform powerful pathways for the community to exert pressure on governments and business to deliver change for land, water and seascape systems.
