Maintenance Supervisor

Elements of Byron is an award-winning Beach front resort, nestled on 50 acres of absolute beach front paradise in Byron Bay in the Northern Rivers of NSW.** We have an opportunity available for a experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our team.**
Reporting to our Maintenance Manager, your responsibilities will include the supervision of the maintenance department providing “hands on” technical expertise for day-to-day operations. Assist the Maintenance Manager to build a strong team that is encouraged to cooperate with other departments, that shows respect to both internal and external customers and one that is efficient at all times. You will ensure compliance with regulatory procedures, requirements and standards.
Oversee the preventative maintenance schedule, repair and upkeep of the resort ensuring all resort equipment is in accordance with our organisational brand and service standards. Assist with the implementation of the HSE Management System and associated policies, procedures, guidelines and programs for the Maintenance Department.
Being reliable with a keen eye for detail is the first step to securing this role. You must have solid technical knowledge, manual dexterity and physical stamina, complimented by your supervisory experience. In conjunction with the Maintenance Manager, monitor departmental budget, overseeing the general cost control aspects of maintenance (including cost of materials, equipment and labour).
You and your team will be responsible for undertaking general repairs and maintenance as well as preventative maintenance programs throughout the resort in a manner that does not disturb guests. This includes:
- Basic plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, pool and spa maintenance
- Servicing of plant and general equipment as directed
- Acting fast to resolve emergency issues (e.g. power outages)
- Assisting other team members in the completion of their duties
- Assist with inventory of equipment, tools, spare parts and hardware supplies
- Ensuring all painted areas are maintained and in good order
- Assist with the supervision of contractors and provision of services on site ensuring a high standard of all work completed.
**Requirements**:
- Strong background in the maintenance field, with the ability to supervise, train and motivate a mix of trade personnel.
- A good understanding of budgeting, maintenance contracts and planning.
- Trade qualification and Diploma qualifications highly regarded
- Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, sewer and HVAC systems; hotel industry experience is a plus
- This role may require you to work rostered shifts which may include early morning starts, late night finishes and weekend work.
- Excellent communication skills with a proven commitment to providing excellence in quality and service.
- Strong organisational skills with clear focus on quality and standards.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office Suite) and experience with a hotel/resort Maintenance IT Program.
- Well presented, with an eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure and resolve problems.
- Working knowledge of current Health & Safety practices.
- Ability to spot safety risks and address needs quickly
- Current and valid manual drivers licence
