The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to fill multiple **Project Support Officer** roles in the IT Work Program Management Section, part of our IT Strategy & Architecture Branch in our Technology and Security Division (TSD).

These are ongoing (permanent) positions at the APS 6 classification level. The successful applicants can work either full-time (preferred) or part-time hours at any of the ABS offices listed, although a hybrid model of working from home and the office applies.

**About the business area**

The IT Work Program Management Section supports TSD to deliver ABS business objectives effectively and efficiently through proactive management of costs, capability and capacity. The team works collaboratively across the division to develop and implement workforce strategies, build professional ICT capabilities, and source ICT skills from the market that are required to deliver work programs.

The available roles cover a range of responsibilities for undertaking work that is moderately complex to complex and/or sensitive in nature. The work may include aspects related to coordination of workforce management activities, actively contributing to project planning and strategic plans and/ or project financial management.

**About the roles**
- Using project management methods and tools including agile methodologies to coordinate, monitor and evaluate various operational workforce management outcomes.
- Work with the finance team to provide financial reporting and analysis of budget requirements for programs and projects.
- Prepare workforce reporting, business planning documents, project documentation and proposal papers for an executive audience.
- Understanding and driving capability uplift through the administration of training programs, management of training governance and delivery of initiatives aligned to our training strategy.
- Implementation of workforce strategy initiatives.
- Management of resource supply and demand at a divisional level.
- Design and deliver process improvement initiatives for workforce or financial processes.

**What we are looking for (selection criteria)**

To be suitable you should have most or all of the following skills, qualities and experience:

- Experience in resource management or financial management/ budgets (i.e. in an operational capacity or of a project or program).
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce information in an inclusive, clear and concise manner for a range of audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with others and sustain positive relationships with team members, internal stakeholders and external stakeholders.
- Experience in leading delivery of operational initiatives and/or activities whilst assessing the implication to strategic objectives and benefits.
- Demonstrated ability to use a flexible, outcomes-based approach to meet business objectives while maintaining attention to detail and governance policies and procedures.
