**Job Summary**:A prosthodontist is a dental specialist responsible for diagnosing, planning, and providing advanced dental prosthetic treatments to improve a patient's oral health and appearance. They work with patients to create custom dental prostheses, such as crowns, bridges, dentures, and dental implants, to restore function and aesthetics to the mouth.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Patient Evaluation and Diagnosis**:Conduct thorough dental examinations to assess the condition of a patient's oral health.
Diagnose dental issues and discuss treatment options with patients.
Create individualized treatment plans based on patients' needs.
**Prosthodontic Procedures**:Design, fabricate, and fit dental prostheses, including crowns, bridges, complete and partial dentures, and dental implants.
Work with dental laboratories to create custom prosthetic appliances to restore or replace missing teeth.
Ensure a precise fit and natural appearance of dental prostheses.
**Cosmetic Dentistry**:Improve the aesthetics of a patient's smile by providing cosmetic procedures like veneers, teeth whitening, and smile makeovers.
**Oral Rehabilitation**:Assist patients with complex oral rehabilitation, including full-mouth reconstructions and cases involving multiple dental issues.
**Treatment Planning**:Collaborate with other dental specialists and healthcare professionals, such as oral surgeons, orthodontists, and periodontists, to coordinate comprehensive treatment plans for patients.
**Educate Patients**:Educate patients on proper oral care, maintenance of dental prostheses, and the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene.
**Research and Continuous Learning**:Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in prosthodontics through continuing education and research.
Incorporate new techniques and materials into practice as needed.
**Record Keeping**:Maintain detailed patient records, treatment plans, and progress notes to ensure accurate documentation and treatment continuity.
**Compliance and Ethics**:Adhere to ethical and legal standards in patient care, including patient confidentiality, informed consent, and billing practices.
**Communication**:Effectively communicate with patients, explaining treatment options, procedures, and expected outcomes in a clear and compassionate manner.

**Salary**: $126,262.94 - $232,154.26 per year
