**About the role**:
The key objectives of this position are:

- To oversee all program activity including the development, coordination and review of the Flemington Homework Club processes in keeping with the organisation’s vision, mission and values.
- To provide leadership and support to participants, staff and volunteers involved in the Homework Club.
- To monitor the program to contribute to organisational evidence based evaluations demonstrating the benefits of Homework Club.
- To develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, namely local schools, other Homework Clubs, youth organisations and the broader local community.
- To explore funding options to enable Homework Club to continue into the future.

$82,043, plus salary packaging benefit, is offered together with ongoing professional and career development as well as opportunities for personal growth.

**Desired Skills and Experience**:
**About you**:

- Understanding of pedagogy, child and adolescent development and working with children with special needs
- Understanding of issues facing young people from a refugee background and newly arrived migrants
- Experience managing and supporting volunteers
- Experience in educationally focussed programs
- Understanding of data management and program monitoring
- Superior written and verbal cross-cultural communication skills
- Strong relationship building skills and capacity to network across a broad range of stakeholders
- Capacity to fulfil reporting and administrative requirements associated with the position

**About the program**:
The Settlement Program works with newly arrived refugees and migrants, emerging communities, mainstream organisations and community services to support positive settlement outcomes through a community development and a capacity building approach. The program offers individual case work and group work to eligible participants across Melbourne’s West.

The Flemington Homework Club supports school aged young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds to improve their ongoing educational engagement and attainment by increasing their access to the learning supports they need. By working closely with volunteer tutors, students have the opportunity to overcome some of their common barriers to successful learning and achievement such as language barriers, lack of conducive work spaces and/or capacity of family members to provide support.
