Programmed Training Services is proud to support the Australian Government and South Metropolitan TAFE to deliver a tailored traineeship program for people looking to start a career in the maritime defence industry. The Defence Industry Pathways Program is an Australian Government initiative.

We are seeking driven, motivated people who will earn whilst they learn to undertake a Certificate III qualification, delivered over a 12-month period.

This traineeship will consist of blocks of study at South Metropolitan TAFE as well as work secondment blocks getting hands-on experience in one of the fastest growing employment markets in WA.

**About the Traineeship**
- Ideal for anyone considering a career the Defence Industry
- 12-month traineeship with exciting employment opportunities upon completion
- Get paid while you train (including annual leave, personal leave and superannuation)
- Ongoing help, support and guidance with a dedicated mentor throughout the traineeship
- Gain experience at industry leading companies in the Henderson marine industry precinct and various Perth locations with a focus on shipbuilding and maintenance
- Learning outcomes will include Engineering & Manufacturing, Logistics, IT and Computer Aided Design
- Gain qualifications such as white card and forklift ticket

**Who we're looking for**:
It's important you're willing to learn and develop your skills throughout this traineeship and have a positive attitude and strong work ethic. You will be willing to work both as part of an experienced team under close supervision, and at times independently.

In addition, you will;
- Have good communication, literacy and numeracy skills
- Have great attention to detail and good problem-solving skills
- Have the ability to meet deadlines and cooperate with others
- Be punctual, reliable and presentable
- Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of relevant workplace health and safety requirements
- Successfully pass pre-employment background checks, medical, drug and alcohol screening and site inductions

**Skills and Experience**

To be successful, you will meet the following criteria:

- Completion of Secondary Schooling (Ideally completed Year 12)
- Be keen to learn about a new and developing industry
- Strong commitment to safety, and a driven individual with strong work ethic
- The ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening test.
- Competent in Microsoft Office Software
- Australian citizen or permanent resident
