- Lead the payroll team to deliver a high-quality payroll service for the Department and client organisations, ensuring high levels of accuracy, efficiency, compliance, confidentiality and customer service.We support reasonable adjustment requests in any stage of the assessment process to remove barriers and facilitate full participation in all aspects of employment for applicants. **Hours per fortnight**:
Up to 73.5 hours - flexible options available

**Duties**
- Lead and coordinate the payroll team to deliver a high-quality payroll service within required timeframes, using the Department’s HR information system.
- Build the performance of the payroll team through training, development and coaching, plus upskilling the team to understudy this role where required.
- Undertake high-level payroll duties, including payroll reconciliation and finalisation, bank reconciliation, HR invoicing, salary increases, end of the financial year processes, payroll reporting for internal and external clients and resolving complex payroll queries.
- Provide quality assurance through various methods, including checking, reporting, auditing, KPIs, and development and enhancement of payroll processes, procedures and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and audit requirements, by maintaining a current knowledge of the applicable legislative framework. Provide accurate, interpretative advice to payroll, employees and managers on complex payroll matters.
- In consultation with the Snr HR Consultant - Payroll, contribute to the completion of complex payroll changes including organisation restructures, State Government elections, machinery of Government changes and the implementation of new payroll/HR information systems.
- Perform any other allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from an occupant at this classification level.

**Selection criteria**:

- Proven ability to lead and coordinate a team, providing training, development, and coaching to build capability and performance.
- Highly developed knowledge and demonstrated experience in payroll activities, as detailed in the duties. This includes highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve complex payroll matters.
- Well-developed organisation and prioritisation skills to ensure completion of the Department’s payroll within required timeframes, managing high workloads and varying work demands.
- Demonstrated initiative and experience in improving payroll processes and procedures, including assisting with high level, complex payroll projects.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to provide expert advice to payroll, employees and managers.
