Typical Duties but not limited to:

- Liaise with Science Leader and Science teaching staff regarding requirements for practical work, setting a priority system where necessary.
- Maintain efficient system for storage, use & allocation of materials & equipment
- Advise science staff on technical components of curriculum, including assisting with demonstrations as required.
- As part of science team review, evaluate and modify laboratory practice
- suggest alternatives / develop practical exercise.
- Assist with the use of computers & learning technologies including calibration checks and operation of specialist laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Prepare solutions, stain & media for use in the laboratory
- Prepare & maintain all documentation, including risk assessments and monitor practices required for OH & S and legislative compliance
- Manage inventory and equipment, including ordering, servicing and cleaning
- Maintain laboratories, preparation & storage areas in a clean, orderly manner at all times
- Obtain appropriate licenses/permits for use of plants, animals, chemicals & lasers
- Collect & maintain living specimens (in accordance with regulations including relevant licences), collect off campus scientific & field samples as required
- Liaise with organisations & industries for the purpose of acquiring resources. Liaise with other schools to share resources
- Be an active member of a professional association relevant to the duties of the position
- Participation in OH&S Committee meetings may be required

Drivers License required

Current Level 2 First Aid / CPR Certificates required

**SKILL REQUIREMENTS**:
The ability to effectively receive and communicate accurate information either verbally or in written form.

An understanding of the organizations procedures, guidelines and policies relevant to the work environment are expected to be learned and applied.

The ability to be self motivated and pro-active whilst working as an integral member of a small team in a busy laboratory setting.

Time management skills & planning abilities particularly in relation to meeting deadlines and maintaining mandated records.

Ability to interact in a confident, professional manner with secondary students, the school and the wider community.

Competent levels in technical literacy, mathematical and computer skills and a range of software relevant to a secondary school science environmen
