We are seeking a suitably experienced Gardener to join our College Facilities and Maintenance team on a full-time ongoing basis.
- This position is part of the College Facilities & Transport team and is responsible for providing gardening support to the College. The incumbent will undertake all activities with mínimal disruption to the operation of the College to provide an effective and safe working and learning environment.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Provide timely and reliable gardening services to the College
- Utilise and maintain small items of plant, equipment, tools (hand and power) and personal protective equipment (PPE) and clothing (College Uniform) in accordance with College standards.
- Maintain & keep driveways, stormwater drains & pedestrian walkways clear of rubbish, leaves & debris.
- Provide support and assistance to the broader Facilities team when required or as directed by the Facilities & Transport Manager, Business Manager or Principal
- Maintain and operate College machinery in a safe and orderly manner and identify health and safety issues.
- Ensure garden areas are always present to a high standard.
- Demonstrate excellence in the implementation of a Garden Maintenance Program.
- Assisting with general maintenance of College grounds when required
- Support the College and Facilities Team by working effectively with other Team Members and actively contributing to the achievement of College goals.
- Set up/pack up of furniture for assemblies, College functions & events.
- Other duties as requested by the College Executive team & Grounds Team Leader
- Qualification relevant to the role, e.g. Certificate II in Horticulture (desirable)
- Current AQF II Chemical Safety Certificate (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience relevant to the role.
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently in diverse weather conditions.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to demonstrate initiative.
- Excellent eye for detail and ensuring all work is completed to College standards.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal to allow professional interaction with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering quality customer service, contributing to service improvement and adapting to change.
- Demonstrated understanding of Health and Safety requirements relevant to the role, including risk assessment of activities and tasks
- React productively to interruptions and changing conditions.
- Uphold the Catholic ethos of the College and be an example to students.
