**The Role**
The Youth Counsellor will be a pivotal role within the Community Youth space. The counsellor will contribute to developing and providing a high quality, early intervention intake response to young people, their families and community services.
The counsellor will have a direct role in the engagement, assessment, coordination, and implementation of clinical care for young people and their families in Mandurah.
The counsellor will assist in the referral of young people to appropriate programs within the community agencies. In addition, the position will participate in community awareness raising activities that promote early help seeking and intervention for mental health and substance use.
- Provide an office-based, outreach and/or telehealth individual and group counselling support service to young people, and their families.
- Support the Intake team in managing capacity as required by providing Intake and Assessment to clients in line with organisational processes.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders involved in the provision of health, mental health, and psychosocial services to young people.
- Administer clinical evaluation measurements, maintain records, case notes and ensure that the client data system is kept up to date in accordance with organisational policy and guidelines.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Degree in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, or Mental Health Nursing
- Registration with relevant professional body - e.g., AHPRA, AASW, ACA
- Working With Children’s Check
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills with a minimum of 12 months experience working with young people at risk of suicide, depression, anxiety and/or self-harm.
- Ability to work with flexibility in responding to young people and their needs current Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
