**Second in Charge - Disability Support Worker - Wynnum and surrounding suburbs**

As a Second in Charge Disability Support Worker in our Social & Community Team, you will work closely with your Team Leader and broader team to deliver a variety of services to participants to support them to live a fulfilling and meaningful life in the community. Your working day may include (but not limited to), assistance and or support with daily living activities, domestic activities, social and community participation and varying skill development activities. You will also be tasked with assisting the Team Leader and acting in the Team Leader role for any planned absences.

You are an independent, proactive thinker and worker but are also able to follow direction/s given by your Team Leader and can work well within a team.

You are also a strong communicator, highly organised and able to effectively work in a team and take direction.

To join our team, you must have the following requirements:

- Ability to work all shifts including morning and afternoons & weekends
- Experience working with people with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Experience working with complex and challenging behaviours
- Previous experience in community care and in a similar 2IC role, for a minimum of 12 months
- Experience administering and accurately charting medications
- Caring personality with strong problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills (ability to initiate conversation, good at ice-breakers while meeting a client for the first time and communicating important messages to the broader team)
- Fluent in speaking, writing and understanding English
- Driver's License and your own reliable vehicle (with comprehensive car insurance) - you must also be a confident and safe driver
- NDIS Worker Screening Card or Yellow Card
- Valid First Aid Certificate & CPR
- Relevant qualification or studying towards
- Must have completed "Assisting Clients with Medications" training
- Good report writing skills
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Teams and able to navigate technology easily

**Salary**: From $29.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Afternoon shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- Public holidays
- Rotating roster
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Wynnum, QLD: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Disability Support: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- First Aid Certification (preferred)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (preferred)
- Driver Licence (preferred)

Work Authorisation:

- Australia (required)
