**About The Role**

The role of the Investment Analyst is to provide a high-level of managed fund product research to financial advisers and other subscribers.

The Investment Analyst will work across a range of asset classes including fixed income, global equities, alternatives, Australian equities, property and multi asset sectors. An understanding of private markets and property will be highly regarded but not mandatory.

**Responsibilities**:

- Analyse and conduct research on managed funds products within the relevant asset class as per the Annual Review Cycle, under the guidance and direction of Senior Investment Analysts and Sector Managers.
- Coordinate with Investment Managers and other Analysts for review meetings.
- Undertake reviews of Investment Managers as assigned by the Sector Manager and in conjunction with other Analysts - collecting and synthesizing written information, assessing the merits of products and preparing research reports covering people and resources, investment style and objectives, research approach, portfolio construction and risk management.
- Prepare Fund Profile, Fund Viewpoint, Fund Review and other research reports for new and existing managed funds products, and other investment review and outlook reports across asset classes.
- Communicate with external clients to address specific queries and needs.
- Contribute to the integrity and evolution of the research process - Participate in Peer Review and Model Portfolio discussions, and provide ideas and input into process development.

**About You**:

- Previous experience **(3+ years) **working with a research house, stockbroker, financial advice firm, fund manager or corporate, with an emphasis on financial analysis and industry knowledge.
- Research skills (qualitative) - A strong ability to synthesize and distil financial information down to key concepts and convey this in written form efficiently, clearly and concisely. Strong attention to detail is essential.
- Interviewing/communication skills - Ability to communicate confidently and question articulately, and be confident in dealing with senior management within external organisations.
- A demonstrable interest in finance and investment.
- A strong and demonstrable understanding of investment markets and asset classes.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills to enable liaising with external clients with the ability to effectively handle queries and concerns.
- Ability to work as part of a close-knit team, as well as autonomously whilst taking responsibility for meeting own objectives.
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets) and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.

**Essential qualifications**:

- An undergraduate degree in a business or mathematical based discipline (science or engineering) e.g. BComm, BBus, BA, BEc, BSc, BApSc

**Highly regarded qualifications**:

- CFA
- Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA)
- Honours Year
- RG146 Accreditation
- Master of Business Administration / Economics / Commerce / Applied Finance
