Dairy Australia is looking for an **Issues Manager and Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator** to support the Trade and Strategy Group on a 12 month parental leave contract. This high performing team supports Australia's position as an internationally competitive, innovate and sustainable dairy industry.

This role is a high profile position with Dairy Australia and the dairy industry. Dairy Australia is charged with overseeing and managing issues and the incident management function on behalf of the industry. This role will also involve the co-ordination of the Dairy Australia government relations workplan.

**The key responsibilities of the role include**:

- Lead the dairy industry’s issues/incident management function to effectively identify, prioritise and support the response to emerging and current issues.
- Be the primary point of contact for industry for emerging and actual issues.
- Build and manage key relationships and contacts to ensure dairy processors, representative organisations and other stakeholders are engaged and informed of emerging and current issues.
- Manage Dairy Australia's government relations strategy.
- Coordinate key events (e.g., Parliament House Dairy Function, Regional and Policy Roundtables) that support a positive engagement and information exchange between the dairy industry and government.
- Collaborate across DA/RDPs and industry representative bodies to identify opportunities to deepen DA and industry relationships with government.
- Coordinate and maintain high-level briefs for senior organisation and industry leaders/bodies as required.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills with the ability to translate analysis/strategic input into actionable business plans and programs.
- High level oral and written communications skills (e.g. an ability to present at public forums and write an industry brief).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build constructive and effective relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.
- Tertiary qualification (or equivalent qualification) in government, policy, risk/issues management or other related discipline or relevant work experience.
- A demonstrated understanding of the machinery of government.
- Knowledge of or experience in the agricultural sector would be an advantage.
- Experience in issues management/risk assessment and management with an understanding of a best-practice risk and issues management approaches would be an advantage.
