**(Level A) $91,402 to $97,927 or (Level B) $102,952 to $110,476 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.**

The post-doctoral researcher will help lead the overall development of semiconductor pump lasers project and will take a lead in at least one area in the development of these lasers (processing and lithography of devices and testing of devices). The researcher will work with undergraduate and graduate students, as well as undertake direct researcher efforts.

This project will operate at the nexus of Physics and Engineering, and the Institute of Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS) at the University of Adelaide, and the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG). This unique, close working environment between different entities will create a dynamic experience.

**To be successful you will need**:
**Level A**
- Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, materials science, or a related field. The degree must be confirmed before the start date.
- Hands on experience in growth, lithography and processing, or testing of semiconductor optical devices such as diode lasers. While specific knowledge of semiconductor lasers is not required; previous transferable knowledge and skills is necessary.
- The ability to adapt previous knowledge and skills to this pump laser development project is as important as familiarity with the detailed topic area.

**Additional requirements for Level B academic position**:

- Post-doctoral research experience, publications, conference papers, reports or professional or technical contributions
- Experience in the supervision of research-support staff
