**The Role**

These positions contribute to the interpretation of the Australian experience of military conflict and military history by supporting the management and development of the Military Heraldry and Technology (MHT) collection. The work involves answering public enquiries related to the collection; acquiring, researching, describing and cataloguing items using the Memorial’s collection management system; liaising with clients, and facilitating access to the collection for internal and external clients. You will also be required to undertake administrative and research project tasks.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Under general direction assist with the management and development of the MHT collection, including the creation and maintenance of collection management records.
- Identify, accession, catalogue and research the origin and significance of collection items, following appropriate museum object handling practices.
- Contribute to Memorial public programs and exhibitions and represent the Memorial as required.
- Respond to internal and external client enquiries related to the collections and provide advice on historical and cultural significance of artifacts in the collection.
- Produce high quality written work in formats such as catalogues, blogs, articles, exhibition text, correspondence, minutes and reports.
- Provide physical access to the MHT collection for internal and external clients, including occasional group tours of collection storage areas.
- Undertake administrative and project tasks in a multi-disciplinary team as required by management.
- Liaise with other areas within the Memorial, in particular Conservation, Registration, Exhibitions and the Development Team, in the planning and production of exhibitions and exhibition items.
- Abide by and further the principles and practices of Work Health and Safety as outlined in the WHS Act, understanding that your work might involve dealing with emotionally distressing material, and undertaking training to protect against exposure to ionising radiation, asbestos or other hazards
