- Our Orthotic and Prosthetic Department has a strong focus on positive patient outcomes, professional development and effective practices, to deliver high quality and timely service, both clinically and technically, to the inpatients and outpatients across Austin Health and the community. We are actively involved in quality and education initiatives, and work with other Allied Health professionals to deliver a high standard of treatment across a large range of pathologies.**About the role**
- The Orthotist / Prosthetist will be recognised as a clinician with developing skills in a specialist area and demonstrate foundational skills and professional knowledge.- They will provide quality and patient-focussed orthotic and / prosthetic clinical services. This will include services within the Orthotic Inpatient Acute Care and / or the Orthotic Outpatient Community Care Streams.**A regular day will see you**:
- Prioritise and provide direct clinical services to areas of Austin Health in accordance with case load requirements, including pressure injury and prevention, acute spinal management and musculoskeletal conditions.
- Provide clinical services in accordance with the professional and ethical standards of the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association
- Manage and demonstrate detailed assessment, care planning and intervention with attention to professional values, skills, knowledge, and theory.
- Assess patients’ functional status and provision of orthoses/prostheses for inpatients and outpatients referred to the Department, including planning, evaluation of treatment, and ongoing treatment plans.
- Actively contribute to the development and continuing improvement of the orthotics and prosthetics service

You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.**To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you**:
- Masters of Clinical Prosthetic and Orthotics (or Bachelor equivalent)
- AOPA membership with certification as an Orthotist / Prosthetist
- An interest in an area of clinical practice relevant to Austin Health (Musculoskeletal, Spinal Injury and pressure injury management)
- Working knowledge of external funding streams such as NDIS, TAC, Work Cover and SWEP
