About the role

This is a hands-on role that is responsible for managing both cloud based and on-premised non-production Customer Platform environments to ensure that all systems are operational and meet performance and security standards.

Day-to-day, you will:

- Actively participate and demonstrate leadership within related industry forums.
- Contribute to driving a culture of innovation across the organisation.
- Work with the Environment Manager/Domain Lead; to develop/input to: mature platform engineering metrics; standards; processes and procedures
- Contribute to the development and execute of the Environment Management & Governance strategy to define processes and practices to address configuration management, scheduling, patching, data management performance and documentation requirements.
- Contribute to the design, and implement processes to ensure all environments are built and managed to the highest quality whilst being used by projects or programs or for platform maintenance and support.
- Manage and maintain cloud-based and on-premises environments to ensure optimal performance, security and availability to enable efficient change delivery.
- Participate in the management of strategic vendor relationships and ensure compliance with agreed service levels.
- Develop a strong working relationship with business, customer & technology stakeholders to ensure a customer-obsessed approach and deep understanding of strategic goals and operational pain points

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:

- Previous leadership role in software development or operations environments
- Proven experience in managing an IT Engineering or Environments team.
- Strong history of team/customer engagement and staff motivation
- Excellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal) with the ability to deal effectively with both internal and external personnel at all levels
- Ability to contribute to short, medium and long term planning and effectively promote ideas
- Tertiary qualifications in systems engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline
- Previous of experience in Information Technology with AWS or on-prem infrastructure
- Strong experience with development tooling e.g. Jenkins; GitHub; Eclipse
- Have demonstrated ability of defining and driving complex initiatives/projects
- Strong technical skills, we expect you can engage with our senior engineers and solution architects to contribute to technical plans and designs
- Hands on experience in Cloud security practice, control implementation and compliance
- Knowledge and experience in DevOps processes and toolchains
