We are looking for a **Specialist Botanist** to join our Environment and Cultural Knowledge team in Perth. This role is a critical technical role that provides biological knowledge of the Pilbara region and information to support and underpin environmental approvals and guide future planning.

This role is a great opportunity to lead advancements in investigating and evaluating environmental values. Reporting to the Superintendent Environment and Cultural Knowledge, you will
- Prepare and review technical documents and biological datasets, with a focus on Pilbara flora and vegetation
- Collaborate and build relationships with the internal approvals team, project stakeholders and other SMEs
- Lead botanical surveys, participate in industry research and contribute toward innovation in the assessment of Pilbara biological values
- Lead a small team of Biological advisors
- Preparation and reviews of scopes of work, technical reports and associated datasets.
- Engaging with and providing advice to internal approvals specialists on biological values
- Contribute to the development and improvement of biological assessment methods, processes and technologies to ensure continuous improvement
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and technical specialists.
- Contribute toward an inclusive culture through collaboration with peers across the broader Environmental Approvals team

**What you’ll bring**

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

- A Degree in botany/ecology/environmental science or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience as a field botanist/biologist, ideally within the resources sector and/or the Pilbara region
- Strategic, forward thinking competencies and demonstrated ability to deliver technical inputs to environmental approvals
- Ability to work autonomously as well as together with a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong partnering skills and ability to influence
- Proficient time management skills and ability to prioritise complex and ambiguous tasks
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills coupled with an ability to think on your feet and make quick rational decisions.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to quickly develop positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience with GIS software, preferably ArcGIS
- Demonstrated experience as a field botanist/biologist, ideally within the resources sector and/or the Pilbara region
