Waste Support Officer

Local government organisation seeking a Waste Support Officer for a 12-month contract within their growing waste management team based just south of the Sydney CBD.

**Your new role**

The function of this role is to contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of the Waste team by providing administrative, work scheduling and systems support. As well as providing excellent customer service to the community in relation to the operations and functions of the waste collection and processing/disposal services provided.
- Liaise with all waste team members to seek updates on, and schedule work in order to respond to and solve operational matters and to provide resolutions to the community regarding waste services.
- Provide general administrative support for the Section as required, including filing, arranging couriers, forms, documents, staff equipment needs and processing incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Generate standard reports which monitor the status of customer requests, CM9 actions and issued notices/Orders/directions for the Team Leader.
- Collate statistical information required for reporting against Sectional Objectives and KPI’s and attend and develop Agenda and Minutes for team meetings.
- Manage the storage of digital photos and video as required for record keeping purposes and use as evidence in contract management processes.
- Provide feedback to the Team Leader on ways to improve operational/administration efficiency with the team or relevant to the receiving and processing of invoices, work requests & complaints.
- Liaise with customers, council’s customer service and numerous external waste contractors to ensure the efficient delivery of Councils waste services. This includes answering the phone, scheduling of work in contractor platforms, replying to written correspondence and where required onsite visits or field inspections.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills with strong accuracy and attention to detail, and as a priority.
- Awareness of the local government environment / procedures, Business Administration level III certificate or relevant equivalent qualification or significant equivalent office or local government experience would be advantageous.
- Excellent word processing skills with experience using Microsoft Office software, knowledge of Electronic Document Management Systems as well as Customer Request Management Systems would be highly advantageous.
