**Y Steps Gymnastics Lead - Junior Recreational Gymnastics Program - YMCA Bowen Hills**

YMCA is Queensland's premier provider of sport and recreation, including a nationally recognised gymnastics program and state-of-the-art fitness facilities across the South East.

Our highly acclaimed Bowen Hills team is seeking a passionate leader for our **Y Steps (Recreation) Gymnastics** program, designed to help **children from age five to mid-teens** develop strength, flexibility and athletic ability. These classes are perfect for **school-age beginners, right through to developing junior-level gymnasts **who wish to explore the world of gymnastics in a non-competitive, recreational capacity across a range of activities and exercises, including beam balance, floor movement and bar routine.

This position is responsible for developing and coordinating the centre’s Y Steps (Recreation) Gymnastics program and classes as well as supervising and supporting a small team of Gym Coaches. The position will also coach classes and complete administrative tasks as required. This is a **full time, permanent role based at YMCA Bowen Hills.**

**THE ROLE**:

- Continue to develop and implement the Y Steps Gymnastics programs in accordance to the Y Steps Syllabus
- Undertake the assessment of new gymnasts and answer general questions in relation to progression including change of classes and levels
- Design and implement retention strategies that will improve the satisfaction level of participants
- Effectively communicate with gymnasts, parents and other stakeholders
- Promote and conduct follow-up of the Y Steps program to local schools
- Assist with completing administrative tasks, including but not limited to:

- Y Steps curriculum development, lesson plans and classes notifications
- Class rotations and equipment rosters
- Following up ‘trial class’ participants
- Produce Y Steps achievement certificates
- Assist in organising holiday programs and birthday parties (if required)
- Represent the YMCA at an industry or sector level, as well as open days, launches and other functions
- Uphold safety standards, adhering to YMCA WH&S policies and practices

**SELECTION CRITERIA**:

- Accreditation with Gymnastics Australia minimum intermediate coaching qualifications, or industry equivalent
- Knowledge and practical experience in all aspects of gymnastics, including demonstrated programming experience
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent planning, prioritisation and organisational skills
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience in all aspects of gymnastics
- Passion for the gymnastics industry and the ability to connect with customers
- Energetic self-starter with a positive attitude
- Ability to excel both autonomously and as part of a team
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering outstanding customer service experiences
- Current Senior First Aid and CPR Certificates, or willingness to obtain them
- Possession or willingness to obtain a Blue Card in accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 prior to commencing
