**Moreton Bay College **was established in 1901 as a school for girls from P-12 and now supports an enrolment in excess of 1100 students. In 2014, the College completed a state-of-the-art Science Centre, featuring eight laboratories, a growth room and four experimental investigation rooms.
**THE POSITION**
The Caretaker is responsible in the first instance to the Facilities and Property Manager and through them, the Chief Operating Officer and ultimately the CEO and Executive Principal. All staff are employed by the CEO and Executive Principal of MBC and MBBC.
All staff need to be supportive of the values, Christian ethos and Ethical Statement of this Uniting Church Day school for girls from EY-12
The caretaker position is provided accommodation to live onsite (caretaker’s residence). The associated duties and responsibilities are outlined below.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Undertake general facilities and maintenance tasks as directed by the Facilities and Property Manager. This may include minor trades work such as:
- General repairs and maintenance
- Handyperson tasks
- General cleaning
- Helpdesk requests
- Directing traffic on campus
- Assisting facilities staff in setting up for Assemblies, Chapel Services, sporting activities and other special events when required.
- Actively contribute to a safety citizenship culture upholding health and safety policies, procedures, hazard reporting and safe work practices.
- Undertake regular facilities jobs including
- Collect all waste from around the College and place empty bins ready for following day.
- Move deliveries (supplies) as instructed by the Facilities and Maintenance Manager around the College campus.
- Supervise, mentor and co-ordinate the work of casual labourers from time-to-time.
- Perform a security check to ensure that the College has been secured each evening by checking doors, windows, activating security alarms and lighting, and locking exterior gates and court areas.
- Escort staff and community members to vehicles after hours when requested to ensure their safety.
- Be present on campus for after hour events or returning buses to provide security for all persons.
- Perform patrols of the school grounds on an ad-hoc basis during the evening and weekends.
- Respond to any alarms which occur and liaise with security company.
- Open and close the College at irregular times when meetings and other events are held. Switch on (off) extra lighting as required.
- Other duties as directed from time to time.
**Caretaker role after hours**
After hours, the Caretaker will be required to:
- Perform patrols of the school grounds on an ad-hoc basis during the evening and weekends.
- Respond to any alarms which occur and liaise with security company.
- Liaise with the security company on regular basis
- Contact and liaise with emergency services in event of any incident
- Respond to any intruders and uninvited guests on campus.
- The caretaker may also be required to respond to call-outs at Moreton Bay Boys’ College.

**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**
- Experience with property management and security is desirable but not essential.
**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS**
- Working with Children (Positive Blue Card)
- Drivers license
**WORK ENVIRONMENT**
- This position involves mostly outdoor work.
- High level of physical activity is required.
- Ability to bend and lift is essential.
- Operation of machinery is necessary.

- Monday to Saturday - 6 days, 38 hrs per week

- Uniform provided as per EBA
- All other conditions are as per the Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement.
