Port Phillip, Australia Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action Full time

The Risk Analyst role sits within the Forest and Fire Planning team, and over this period of employment will be primarily working on Forest Management Planning, but also supporting Fire Management Planning.You'll be working in a technical team of fire behaviour analysts, fire ecologists and monitoring specialists as well as alongside engagement and forest management staff working to improve how our public land estate is used and protected from bushfire.
These skills will see you undertaking modelling to improve our understanding of the Forests in Port Phillip, their values and assets.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial analysis and computer modelling skills and experience are mandatory. ArcGIS Pro skills preferred.
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications in science, forestry, natural resource manager or equivalent is desirable.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is also desirable:

- Understanding Forest Values (for example areas such as Biodiversity, Traditional Owners, Tourism, Economics, Recreation, Carbon and Climate Change)
- A strong understanding of forest ecosystem functions and/pr biodiversity is beneficial with a preference for bushfire/or emergency response knowledge.
- Structured Decision Making (SDM) experience
- Basic programing skills (specifically in the use of SQL, R, etc.)

This is fixed term position available until 29 September 2023. The work location for this position is flexible within the Port Phillip Region (Knoxfield, Heidelberg or Powelltown) with hybrid work arrangements available.
