Debt Recovery Officer

**Full Time Fixed Term Position - October 2025**

**Band 5 - Salary Range $78,646 to $90,563 per annum + 11.5% Super + ADO**

**Salary offered will depend on level of skills and experience.**

**The Opportunity**

Melton City Council is seeking an energetic and self-motivated person to assume the role of Debt Recovery Officer at one of the fastest growing and exciting regions in Australia.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensure that all rate accounts in arrears are followed up with a reminder notice in accordance with the current policies and practices.
- Initiate legal action when required in accordance with the current policies and practices and liaise with Council’s debt collectors in the recovery process.
- Process Financial Hardship Applications in a timely manner and to recommend appropriate actions and write-offs for Finance Manager’s approval of such action.
- Pay invoices from service providers.

**About you**

**_ To be successful in this role you will have the following:_**
- Degree or Diploma in administration or a related field with some experience or a lesser formal qualification with relevant debt recovery experience.
- Experience using document management system.
- Excellent knowledge of revenue collection relating to local government and other relevant acts and regulations is desirable.
- Good working knowledge of property and rating processes and systems.
