As the Aboriginal Education and Strategy Officer you will work within the College of Sciences and Engineering and with guidance from the Associate Dean Learning and Teaching Performance you will elevate levels of staff and student understanding and respect for Aboriginal culture, heritage, needs, aspirations, and interests. You will achieve this by enabling curriculum development, staff education, strategic advice, and policy support that engages with Aboriginal matters.

You will liaise with the Executive Dean of the College of Sciences and Engineering, Pro Vice-Chancellor Aboriginal Leadership, Aboriginal Higher Education Advisors and Tasmanian Aboriginal communities and organisations that deliver services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.

You will support the implementation of a College Indigenising Curriculum Working Group, develop and implement educational programs for staff and students with a focus on Tasmanian Aboriginal perspectives and provide advice on policies in relation to Aboriginal matters including the implementation of the University’s Strategic Plan for Aboriginal Engagement 2021-2024.

**What You’ll Need to Succeed**

With an understanding of national and international matters impacting First Nations Peoples you will bring to the role extensive knowledge of the issues facing Tasmanian Aboriginal communities and have established relationships with Tasmanian Aboriginal community members and organisations. You will have the ability to build and maintain effective and productive links between Tasmanian Aboriginal communities, wider communities, and other organisations and the capacity to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. Having completed a bachelors degree in a relevant field you will bring high level interpersonal, teamwork, and networking skills and have the capacity to engage with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience in preparing and delivering cultural training programs, developing policies and strategies and familiarity with the larger tertiary education environment will also see you succeed in this position.
