Located at SAHMRI, the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute, the Gut Cancer Lab, led by Associate Professor Susan Woods, uses state-of-the-art approaches using both patient samples and sophisticated pre-clinical models to find ways to reduce the incidence of bowel cancers through better prevention and detection methods.

We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to lead a research program investigating strains of probiotic bacteria that naturally home to tumours to release detection and chemo-prevention payloads. The successful applicant will be joining a highly driven and enthusiastic research group where mentoring for career progression and development will be provided.

The successful applicant will hold a PhD in molecular biology, with knowledge in the field of cancer research preferable. The successful applicant will work closely with fellow Gut Cancer scientists and their collaborators across multiple local and international sites. Support for and some supervision of postgraduate research students is expected.

**To be successful you will need**:

- A PhD in Molecular Biology or equivalent field, cancer research knowledge preferred.
- Excellent core molecular biology skills with proven experience in microbial and/or mammalian cell culture techniques and pre-clinical models (eg. Organoids, animal models) of human disease.
- To be highly motivated, with a demonstrated capability to learn quickly, show initiative and maintain excellent experimental records.
- Experience in working collaboratively and communicating effectively with other researchers across multiple sites.
- Computer programming experience highly valued and/or an aptitude and interest in further bioinformatics training.

Please note this role will also require:

- Immunisation in accordance with laboratory work involving human tissue or fluids at the cost of the Institute.
