**Role**:
This role involves assisting teachers and students in the preparation of food, maintaining kitchen facilities, and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.

**Responsibilities**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Supporting Food Technology Lessons**:
Assist teachers in delivering food technology lessons by preparing ingredients and equipment for practical lessons.

Ensure that all food technology equipment is in working order and ready for student use.

Set up and clean up after cooking lessons, ensuring all workstations and equipment are sanitized.

Supervise students during practical cooking classes, providing guidance on food preparation techniques and safety procedures.

**Kitchen and Equipment Management**:
Ensure that all kitchen equipment (e.g., stoves, ovens, blenders, mixers) is maintained, cleaned, and stored properly.

Help with the safe and efficient storage of ingredients, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.

Maintain and organize stock of kitchen tools, appliances, and ingredients.

Keep inventory records for food and equipment, ensuring items are replenished as needed.

**Food Safety and Hygiene**:
Ensure that all food preparation and cooking processes comply with food safety regulations, such as proper handling, storage, and hygiene practices.

Help students understand and follow the school's health and safety policies in food handling.

Monitor food expiry dates and ensure proper disposal or rotation of stock.

Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as aprons, gloves, and hairnets, where appropriate.

**Student Supervision and Support**:
Support students in practical lessons, assisting them with cooking techniques, ingredient handling, and following recipes.

Provide individual assistance to students as needed, especially those who may require extra help.

Ensure students are following safety procedures in the kitchen, such as proper knife handling, operating equipment, and maintaining a tidy workspace.

**Lesson Preparation**:
Organize and set up food preparation stations before classes and clean up afterward.

**Maintaining a Safe and Clean Learning Environment**:
Ensure the food technology room is safe and tidy at all times, with clear pathways, organized storage, and all equipment properly maintained.

Assist with cleaning up after lessons, including washing dishes, wiping down counters, and ensuring all cooking equipment is returned to storage.

Report any maintenance or equipment issues to the appropriate staff for timely repair.

**Collaboration and Teamwork**:
Work collaboratively with the Food Technology teacher and other school staff to ensure the smooth operation of the food technology program.

**Other Duties as Required**:
Undertake any additional duties related to food technology, as directed by the head of department or school leadership.
