Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.

Purpose of the role

Procurement Services leads the QFES procurement and travel functions, and is responsible for the procurement governance, sourcing, support services, and management of specialised equipment, general goods and services, fleet and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) procurement contacts, standing officer arrangements and panel arrangements in compliance with Queensland procurement policy and Queensland Government Contract Management Framework.

Reporting to the Principal Procurement Officer, you will support the day-to-day functions of the ICT category team as well as ensuring ICT peripherals items are ordered and processed within a timely manner. You will set priorities and monitor workflows to ensure the delivery of timely and quality client services and problem solving to support procurement requirements. You may also be required to support the help desk functions for the procurement from time to time and assist with advice and continuous improvement recommendations.

- Queensland Government Level 2 Purchasing Certification or equivalent.
- SAP training and experience in procurement systems.

Your key accountabilities

Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:

- Provide administrative support, for purchasing activities, including creating and managing purchase orders and goods receipting, and ensure procurement processes and financial approvals meet effective service delivery requirements.
- Utilise databases/systems to create, update, analyse and retrieve data to report on business activities and provide operating support to ensure compliance and effective maintenance of records and access to information.
- Assist with procurement helpdesk support, and provide advice to frontline officers and staff relating to best practice processes, user functions, including maintaining user access rights for the travel management and procument systems.
- Liaise and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders relating to procurement matters and resolve issues and/or escalate to ensure consistent delivery of services.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of systems, policies and procedures that support procurement services and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to a cohesive team environment by sharing information, supporting and assisting colleagues in a proactive manner, including to resolve issues or provide recommendation for improvement.
