**About Us**
Platform Youth Services is a growing not-for-profit based youth homelessness service, that has provided holistic services to vulnerable young people who are at risk of homelessness or who are experiencing homelessness in the Nepean, Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury areas for over 45 years.

**About the role**
The Assertive Outreach Worker works under general direction, exercising initiative and professional judgement to establish connections with young people who are sleeping rough, build trust and provide person centred services.
This approach promotes social inclusion for people with complex needs that impact their housing situation. Assertive Outreach recognises that many young people do not have a standalone homelessness issue but have a variety of complex issues that require extensive support to assist them in moving forward.
We are looking for a motivated and dedicated Assertive Outreach Worker to join our dynamic team who:

- Ability to provide good judgement in crisis and housing situations

**Selection Criteria**
**The minimum requirement to be considered for this role include**:
- Extensive knowledge of the homelessness sector, including services, support, and allied services that are available to people experiencing homelessness.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in engaging and working with people who are marginalized and disadvantaged, who may be disengaged from the community, with sensitivity to their unique situation.
- Experience in working with young people who are homeless or at risk and a knowledge of the range of issues facing homeless youth.
- Sound knowledge of Child Protection Systems and Mandatory Reporting Practices
- Genuine interest and concern for creating independence in young people.
- Proven skills in Referral and Assessment procedures
- Proven ability to work confidently with challenging and complex behaviours within a trauma informed and Client centred Framework.
- IT literate and able to work with client information systems.
**Qualifications, Checks and References**
- Welfare qualifications (min. Diploma in or Welfare/Community Services/Youth Work) qualifications
- Evidence of Australian Citizenship or Permanent residency
- Unrestricted Current 'C' class Driver’s licence
- A valid National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, First Aid Certificate and CPR Certification
- Two referees, including current or most recent manager.
