Why This Role Matters

The After-Hours Youth Support Worker - Evening provides professional and consistent support to young men and women who are homeless or at risk of experiencing homelessness. To support the case management team in the ongoing implementation of case management plans and create a therapeutic environment within the crisis accommodation setting.

About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated After Hours Youth Support Worker for our Middleton Street Youth Services in a Casual capacity. This position is based out of Shepperton.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Grade profile SCHADS Award level 3.

Standard shifts that may be offered are 7:30am-3:30pm, 3:15pm-11:30pm, 11:15pm-7:30am on a stand-up shift, and coverage as required

Open 7 days per week, 24 hours per day under a stand-up model requiring availability to cover a range of shifts on both weekends and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

- Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all residents.
- Follow the Journey to Independence Model and maintain a Psychologically Informed Environment.
- Assist residents with managing personal and shared spaces.
- Maintain accurate, timely records in compliance with legislative standards.
- Oversee after-hours crisis accommodation and ensure smooth handover.
- Orient residents to the Journey to Independence Model and expected behaviours.
- Support case management plans, assisting with appointments in areas like health, housing, and education.
- Assist with independent living skills, including meal prep, hygiene, and recreation.
- Contribute to daily cleaning and maintenance of the refuge.
- Offer informal support to residents, including outreach clients.
- Identify and report risks to clients, staff, and TSA to relevant supervisors.
- Recognize service gaps and propose improvements to delivery.

About You:

- Minimum diploma level qualification in community services, social services, or related field.
- Certificate IV is recognised with experience and willingness to study towards Diploma or above qualifications.
- Relevant experience in a social service environment preferably the youth sector.
- A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
- A current and valid Working with Children’s Check
- A valid Victorian Driver's license.
