Position Description for Disability Support Worker

Position Title: Disability Support Worker

**Key responsibilities**:

- Provide care and support to our participants living with disabilities.
- Knowledge and experience with mental health, behaviours of concerns and

high complex needs.
- Knowledge and experience with manual handling and the use of Mobility

equipment - e.g., hoist, manual and electric wheelchair, shower chair, standing

frame etc.
- Aid with personal care, community access, domestic duties, administering

medication, meal preparation to the participants as per the support plan.
- Basic administrative tasks
- e. g. daily progress notes, maintain participant

records to ensure consistent and quality of care.
- Ability to work independently without supervision, in a client-centred approach.
- Report Management in case of any incidents or issues.
- Be Flexible with shift timings.
- Must be competent in written and verbal communication.

**Qualifications**:

- Certificate III or IV in Disability or similar qualification
- Minimum of 1-year experience as a disability support worker/Mental health

support worker/PCA
- Experience with Hoist/Manual handling
- Mental health, Epilepsy and Autism training or experience preferred
- Flexibility in timings and availabilities
- NDIS screening check/or willing to obtain
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Relevant visa or working rights in Australia
- Experience with behaviour of concern and mental health (Preferred not

mandatory)
- Current and valid driver's license and own reliable vehicle
- Competent written and verbal communication.

**Requirements**:

- First Aid/CPR training
- Valid Driver’s License
- Experience with client diagnosed with Dementia
- Able to do light cleaning and helping out with household tasks.

Supports required:
**Mondays to Fridays 9AM - 4PM**
- Domestic Assistance (cleaning, laundry, cooking, etc.)
- Community Access
- Companionship

Note: Shadow shifts will be provided; Vehicle required.

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $37.50 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 35 per week
