**About the role**
In this role, you will provide support to the Lead Integrity & Review Officer and Customer Service with respect to reviews of complaints received from the public and coordination of responses.

Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out internal reviews of complaints escalated under the Council Complaints Policy and carrying out internal review of decisions, actions or services of City staff where required.
- Liaising with the Victorian Ombudsman in relation to requests for information.
- Considering and determining appeals against infringements issued by Council.
- Keeping up to date with policy considerations and guidance in the review of appeals against infringements issued by the Victorian Ombudsman’s Office and relevant State Government departments.
- Ensuring all relevant legislative requirements and standards for the review of appeals against infringements are observed.
- Contributing to the ongoing review and development of internal guidance and procedures with respect to appeals against infringements and the review of complaints.
- Preparing to deputise for the Lead Integrity & Review Officer from time to time.
**About you**
To be successful in this role you will have knowledge of legislation and policies relevant to the infringements framework and the exercise of discretion in a fair and sound manner.
Essential Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in law, business management or similar however lesser formal qualifications with proven experience in fields relating to the review of appeals and or decisions and investigating or handling complaints will be considered. Applicants who are currently undertaking relevant studies will also be considered.
- Attention to detail and ability to grasp and understand relevant facts quickly and accurately.
- Proven ability to manage information confidentially and discreetly in a complex and often challenging work environment.
- Experience in reviewing complaints and conducting reviews of internal decisions.
- Ability to utilise technology and keep appropriate records.
- Strong decision-making skills, particularly consistency and impartiality, and the ability to be able to articulate reasons for decisions clearly.
- The political acumen, resilience, and common sense to perform the duties in an effective manner.
- Personal alignment to the organisational principles of customer service, business planning and performance management and a commitment to adhering to the Council code of conduct and values.
